Che La Luna

Acrylic On Paper

11x14 in (matted and framed)

‘Che La Luna’ is a celebration of the person I’ve become because of my roots. I often felt out of place in my hometown, and feared who I would become if I stayed. After a decade away I can look back fondly on the special family moments, and appreciate the support I’ve gotten that has helped me to bloom.

This piece depicts basil (my favorite herb) planted and blooming in an unexpected place — a can of Tuttorosso crushed tomatoes (with basil, of course). It is dedicated to my Italian grandmother from Naples, and my mother (her daughter).
